Google .new shortcut for Calendar

Just found this on engadget.

If you type in cal.new or meeting.new in the address bar (sorry, awesomebar, or whatever it is called these days), it will directly re-direct you to the page/dialog to create a new calendar entry for your google calendar.

Seems to have been around for google docs for a while now, but I don't really create a lot of them, compared to calendar entries.

Nice use of TLDs ;)

Google Photos from OnePlus Camera

The latest update on my OnePlus 5T (to Android P) make OnePlus Gallery the app that opens when you click on the gallery/image icon at the lower right corner.

Just setting Google Photos as the default app does not change that...
You have actually disable the Gallery app.

To do this, go to the phone's settings, and the applications menu there.
Find the Gallery app, and click on the Disable button.

From then on, the camera will open the default app for photos, which you should make sure to set to Google Photos.

Why, Flickr, Why ?

As much as I like the new flickr app for iPhone [1] and Android, I wonder, why they could not decide on one layout for the toolbar

The above is from iPhone, the lower is from Android.

Why, Flickr, why ?

[1] actually, I use it on my iPad, but there is no HD version yet, so I have to use the iPhone version... room for another rant :)

Google Calendar Goodie

Have you ever noticed that Google Calender shows the current day (of the month) as the favicon.

Therefore also in the tab (on Firefox), even it the tab is pinned.

Cool. Nice.
Not sure if it is entirely useful, but I like it.

TechCrunch: Google Launches Apps Premier

Finally we see Google charging the users for their services with Google Apps Premier, i.e. a slightly more pro version of Google Apps (IMHO) for 50$ a year.
Google Apps for Your Domain was launched in August. The Google Apps for Your Domain page has already been updated to reflect tonight’s announcement. The service will include the existing Google Apps tools - GMail, Google Calendar, Google Talk and IM as well as the Google Docs applications that were just integrated into the suite today. Webmail will come with 10 GB of storage and Apps Premier includes service level agreements that promise 99.9% uptime and 24/7 tech support. A full comparison of the standard and Premier services can be found here. The service costs $50 per user per year, dramatically undercutting Microsoft’s offerings. Google’s package does not currently include a presentation tool like Power Point or a CRM application. The most likely next addition to the package could be an enterprise version of Blogger. General Electric and Proctor and Gamble are cited as among the first Google Apps Premier customers.

It’s G-Day: Google Launches Apps Premier
